Samish Neighborhood Association Meeting
February 13, 2014, Community Baptist Church

Meeting called to order by President Carpenter.

Board members present: Joe Carpenter, Tom Roehl, Steve Abell, Garey Vodopich, Dick Conoboy,  Brian Benjamin, Junga Subedar, Edward Alexander

Board members absent: Don Hale, Christopher Morrison, Suneeta Eisenberg, Kevin Probasco

Guests: Lois Schneeberg, Isaac Schoenfeld, Katelyn Doggett

Public Comments: none

President’s Announcements: none

Old business:

Meeting minutes from January 9, 2014 were approved.

Treasurer’s report: No formal report given, but balances are unchanged from January except for $10 rent for meeting room paid to the church.

MNAC update: No recent meetings, but Dick was complimentary to Mayor Linville for her personal involvement in chairing MNAC meetings.

Greg McCracken is editor for Spring newsletter. Articles have been submitted by Dick Conoboy and Steve Abell. Joe will add the President’s Letter, and we think Christopher Morrison will add an article on home security. There may also be a short article on Sustainable Connections. Junga will write an article about animal safety.

New business:

We discussed writing another letter supporting existing city code restricting occupancy of single family homes to no more than three unrelated persons. Dick expressed his disappointment in the Mayor’s proposal for rental inspection, as it seems to reflect a complaint-based system. His feeling is this will not work any better than the current system. He believes the program should instead include mandatory inspections of all rental properties on a regular basis, with or without complaints.

Plans for the Spring General Meeting on March 20 are in place. Joe will approach Haggen for snack donations. We also discussed possible guest speakers, including Andy Day, the assistant fire chief. We need to look for new board member candidates as we will have a number of open slots. Edward Alexander has decided not to run for re-election.

Meeting adjourned.
